Legendary New Orleans metal band DOWN have unveiled “The Myth,” a new single accompanied by an official music video and taken from their long-awaited fifth studio album, Volume V. The track offers another glimpse into the next chapter of a band whose distinctive blend of sludge, doom, southern metal and heavy rock has left a lasting mark on the extreme music landscape. After years of anticipation surrounding new studio material, Volume V is finally set to arrive on November 20, 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The Myth” arrives as another piece of the long-awaited Volume V puzzle, giving fans a taste of the record ahead of its full release. DOWN have always thrived on the contrast between massive, groove-driven riffs and a raw, organic sense of heaviness, and the new material continues that tradition while carrying the unmistakable character that has defined the band since their earliest recordings.
The upcoming album represents a significant moment for DOWN, marking their first full-length studio album since 2007's Down III – Over The Under. The enormous gap between records has only intensified anticipation surrounding Volume V, making every new piece of music feel like another glimpse into a chapter fans have been waiting nearly two decades to experience. “The Myth” now adds another dimension to that anticipation.
With Volume V scheduled for release worldwide on November 20 through Nuclear Blast Records, DOWN are finally approaching the moment their audience has been waiting for. “The Myth” stands as another powerful signal that the wait is almost over, with the full weight of Volume V set to arrive before the end of 2026.
