Valencia, Spain metalcore outfit RETRACE THE LINES have unveiled “Pain,” a new single accompanied by an official music video as the band enter a new chapter in their evolution. Formed in Valencia in 2012, the band have spent more than a decade developing a sound positioned between metalcore and modern metal, with their latest material opening the door to a darker and more ambitious era. “Pain” arrives during the rollout of PROJECT: ANOMALY, an expansive new creative project built around music, visual storytelling and an immersive fictional world.
The new track continues the band's ability to combine melodic accessibility with the weight and intensity expected from modern metalcore. RETRACE THE LINES have previously established themselves through a balance of powerful melodies, aggressive instrumentation and emotionally charged songwriting, while their latest material is being developed with an even broader sonic and visual identity. Their previous EP, Echoes Of Love & Hate, featured seven tracks and showcased the band's continued evolution toward a more contemporary sound.
“Pain” arrives as part of the band's PROJECT: ANOMALY era, a concept that extends far beyond the music itself. RETRACE THE LINES have created a fictional institution called the Department of Human Stability, with an interactive online archive, physical sets and a series of videos forming a connected universe around the upcoming material. The project explores the human tendency to analyse, label and search for explanations for what happens internally, turning the band's next musical chapter into a much larger artistic experience. >
With “Pain,” RETRACE THE LINES continue moving forward without abandoning the emotional and melodic foundations that have defined their career. The new official music video becomes another piece of the PROJECT: ANOMALY puzzle, while the Valencia outfit prepare to reveal more of their next chapter throughout 2026.
