KAONASHI - Sign With Equal Vision Records, Share New Music Video for “My 5-Year Plan”

Following a fervid hometown performance at This Is Hardcore this past weekend, Equal Vision Records are proud to welcome Philadelphia emo mathcore act Kaonashi to their roster. Pushing the boundaries of metal, Kaonashi showcases an intense technical prowess complemented by reality-induced conceptual lyrics. To celebrate the signing, the band has shared a new music video for “My 5-Year Plan,” taken from their 2018 independent release, Why Did You Do It?. Kaonashi will bring their gripping live show to fans across the U.S. this summer, on tour with The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, No Zodiac, and more. You can watch the video for “My 5-Year Plan” below and find a full list of tour dates below.

A quote from Kaonashi on signing to Equal Vision Records:

“Ever since we started this band, our goal was to sign to Equal Vision Records. Their sound and style is what Kaonashi was based off of. We still can’t believe it.”

Formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2012, Kaonashi made their first impact on the scene in October 2013 with the release of their EP Native. Drawing from both hardcore and progressive acts such as Coheed & Cambria, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and The Contortionist, Kaonashi has molded a technical, aggressive sound to call their own. With personal lyrics tackling the difficulties of depression and anxiety facing this generation, 2016 saw the release of their second EP Ex-Prayers in addition to a split with Sabella titled Never Home. Last fall, Kaonashi established themselves among their peers with the release of their groundbreaking third EP Why Did You Do It? - a rollercoaster ride across seven tracks ranging from downright brutal riffs to serene, melodic moments that has taken the scene by storm. Keeping on with a relentless touring schedule, the band has shared the stage with the likes of Between The Buried and Me, Code Orange, Knocked Loose and For The Fallen Dreams. Having built an intense and eager fan base for themselves through explosive live performances, Kaonashi now join the Equal Vision Records roster, another success proving their forward-looking take on metal will ensure their rise to new heights.
