NAMELESS Obliterate The Self With “OBLITERATE”

Black Country alternative metal band NAMELESS return with “OBLITERATE,” the first taste of their upcoming album Floor Noise. The Birmingham-based outfit blur the boundaries between alternative metal, nu metal, hardcore and atmospheric shoegaze, creating a sound where abrasive heaviness and darker textures collide. The new single reaches back to material originally developed following the band’s 2022 self-titled EP before being rediscovered, completed and brought into the present for their forthcoming album.

“OBLITERATE” explores emotional manipulation, destructive relationships and the gradual erosion of personal identity. The song examines the experience of becoming increasingly influenced and controlled by people who slowly infiltrate your thoughts, decisions and sense of freedom. Vocalist Jordan Ebanks describes the relationships at the centre of the song as something resembling an addiction or possession — something that causes harm while making escape increasingly difficult.

The track’s history makes its arrival on Floor Noise particularly fitting. Originally beginning as a synth idea after the completion of NAMELESS’ self-titled EP, “OBLITERATE” remained unfinished for years before the band returned to it and transformed the idea into its current form. The song ultimately became an exploration of what happens when outside influences become so consuming that the person underneath them begins to disappear. NAMELESS have previously taken their music to the stage at Bloodstock Open Air, and the new album represents the next stage in their progression.

Floor Noise is currently being developed with an expected 2027 release, and “OBLITERATE” offers the first glimpse into what NAMELESS are building. Dark, confrontational and deeply personal, the new single turns the destruction of identity into a powerful statement — and marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Birmingham outfit.
