Australian prog/metal/noise outfit HENCE CONFETTI return with “Martyrs,” a seven-minute descent into manipulation, manufactured belief and the gradual erosion of independent thought. Released October 1, 2026, through Grindhead Records, the track serves as the first single and official video from the band’s upcoming debut album, presenting a sprawling collision of syncopated, jarring riffage, soaring melody and introspective lyricism.
At the heart of “Martyrs” is the overwhelming stream of information surrounding modern life. Voices, opinions, propaganda, algorithms and carefully constructed narratives constantly compete for attention, creating an environment where repetition can make distortion feel like truth. HENCE CONFETTI explore what happens when people become so immersed in that noise that they lose the ability to distinguish between independent thought and ideas gradually imposed upon them.
Rather than targeting one specific ideology or group, “Martyrs” focuses on the mechanism of manipulation itself. Fear, anger and uncertainty can be exploited until individuals are convinced to move toward something destructive while believing they are acting for a worthy cause. That loss of agency sits at the centre of the song, examining how unseen influences can shape what people think, what they fear and ultimately what they are willing to sacrifice.
Musically, HENCE CONFETTI reinforce that uneasy subject matter with a sound that refuses to settle into predictable territory. Heavy grooves, jagged progressive passages and soaring melodic moments collide with an atmosphere of controlled chaos, reflecting the fractured perception at the core of “Martyrs.” The song marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Bathurst-based outfit, with their debut album set to follow.
