Finnish modern metal force ATLAS have returned with “Bittersleep,” their first new release since the arrival of their latest album Sunder in February 2026. The new single opens another chapter for the five-piece, who have developed their own “Northcore” identity by combining modern metal, metalcore and deathcore with atmospheric melodies, crushing rhythms and the melancholy associated with their Finnish roots. “Bittersleep” arrives alongside a new official music video created by Riivata Visuals, giving the track a striking visual counterpart.
Built around the haunting line, “I die in my dreams, endlessly. Waiting for you, my Anemone,” “Bittersleep” explores the fragile space between dreaming and reality, longing and loss. ATLAS balance powerful melodic passages with crushing heaviness, allowing the song to move between intimate atmosphere and monumental weight. The track carries an emotional sense of surrender, drawing the listener into a world where dreams and memories become difficult to separate from reality.
The single follows Sunder, an album that explored themes of death, healing, rebirth and faith through the band's expansive approach to modern heavy music. With “Bittersleep,” ATLAS retain the atmospheric character that has become central to their sound while focusing on a much more intimate emotional moment. Their combination of colossal production, captivating melodies and crushing rhythmic foundations continues to define the band's distinctive place within the Nordic metal landscape.
“Bittersleep” marks the beginning of a new phase for ATLAS, with the band continuing to develop their sound while remaining rooted in the darkness and melody that define their identity. The new single and official video are available now, offering the first glimpse into where the Finnish five-piece will take their sound next.
