HOLDING ABSENCE Close A New Chapter With “Heaven”, Release New Album "Modern Life Is Lonely"

Welsh post-hardcore outfit HOLDING ABSENCE have unveiled “Heaven,” the fourth and final single from their newly released fourth studio album, Modern Life Is Lonely. Released September 18, 2026 through Sumerian Records, the 11-track album marks the band’s first full-length since signing with the label and follows 2023’s The Noble Art Of Self Destruction. “Heaven” arrives as the third track on the record, bringing together the emotional intensity, expansive melodies, and atmospheric character that have continued to define HOLDING ABSENCE while pushing their sound into a new era.

Frontman Lucas Woodland describes “Heaven” as a classic HOLDING ABSENCE song reworked through the band’s newer approach, built around a heart-wrenching message and an epic chorus. The track moves from delicate electronic textures into a heavier section influenced by the band’s earlier shoegaze-driven sound, creating a strong contrast between restraint and release. That dynamic reflects the wider identity of Modern Life Is Lonely, an album exploring loneliness, grief, love, identity, trauma, mortality, and the search for meaning in an increasingly disconnected world.

The arrival of “Heaven” completes the album’s single campaign, following “Reflection,” “Whisper Of A Dream,” and “Lucid Love.” The full record runs across 11 tracks, moving from “Reanimate” through “Modern Life Is Lonely,” “Scorched Earth,” and “Kyoto Snow,” with “Heaven” occupying a central position in the album’s sequence. The accompanying music video, directed by Danny Land, also serves as the final instalment of the band’s Y4 narrative.
