Canadian hardcore heroes COMEBACK KID are about to unleash their eighth studio album, Chosen Hell, on Friday, November 6, via SharpTone Records in the U.S. and Dine Alone Records in Canada. Pre-order it here. Just ahead of the album's arrival, the band shares the official music video for focus track ''Shedding Season,'' featuring Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox.
Watch it BELOW!
"'Shedding Season' is about peeling back the stress, drama, and pain that we've been carrying on through life with," says singer Andrew Neufeld. "It's about the specific or period in life where the decision is made to set ourselves free from harmful weight that we have lived in up until that point. It is about defining that moment and feeling confident in the choice to move forward leaving it behind. We were fortunate enough to get Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox to guest on this song and she crushed it. It is a back and forth, 'me against you' type of lyrical narrative between Courtney and I. Her voice is untouchable and her guttural yell screams volumes of passion in this song. 'Losing you was a solid win.'"
A standout collaboration on the 11-track album, ''Shedding Season'' finds LaPlante bringing her unmistakable vocal intensity to Comeback Kid's signature blend of aggressive, melodic hardcore. The track is one of two guest appearances on Chosen Hell, which also features Brendan Garrone of Incendiary on ''Yesterday’s Gone.''
Chosen Hell was produced, mixed, and mastered by acclaimed producer and engineer Will Putney (Knocked Loose, Gojira, Every Time I Die) at his Graphic Nature Audio studio in New Jersey. The record further distills the musical elements that have defined COMEBACK KID for more than 25 years, pushing their hardcore foundation forward with blazing modern metal, punk aggression, and moments of vulnerable melodicism. The result is a dynamic collection that balances the band's trademark urgency with a willingness to explore new territory.
The album's title track explores morality, ethics, and the choices people make, even when they recognize those choices may be holding them back. The visual artwork also takes a unique approach: the album cover features an actual structure built by Australian artist Callum Preston in Melbourne.
With a career spanning more than 25 years, COMEBACK KID have become one of the most influential forces in Canadian and international hardcore, helping shape the sound and direction of modern punk and hardcore since the release of their 2003 debut, Turn It Around. Their 2005 landmark Wake The Dead and 2007's Broadcasting... cemented their place in the genre, while subsequent releases continued to expand their reach. The band has earned Billboard-charting albums, widespread critical acclaim, and a fiercely loyal global following built through relentless touring and a reputation for explosive live performances.
Over the years, COMEBACK KID have shared stages with an expansive range of influential artists, including Hatebreed, Sick Of It All, Dropkick Murphys, Bad Religion, Gojira, Parkway Drive, Rise Against, and Alexisonfire. Their 2022 album Heavy Steps and 2024 TROUBLE EP further demonstrated the band's ability to evolve without sacrificing the intensity that has made them a cornerstone of the hardcore community.
Now, with Chosen Hell, COMEBACK KID continue pushing forward, delivering 11 tracks that reaffirm their legacy while embracing the next chapter of their sound.
