Boston, Massachusetts progressive death metal project A SQUANDERED POTENTIAL have unveiled “Slave Of Denial,” accompanied by a new official lyric video. The track arrives as part of the newly released Pure Catharsis, a two-song release that dropped on September 17, 2026, pairing “Slave Of Denial” with “FCKISRL.” Running for just over five minutes, “Slave Of Denial” continues the project's technically intricate and progressive approach to extreme metal.

Created by Eric Harper, A SQUANDERED POTENTIAL combine progressive and technical death metal with complex songwriting and a strongly personal lyrical perspective. Harper handles the vocals and instrumentation, with Sean Hart contributing to production and bass across the project's recorded material. The project's 2025 full-length The Implication showcased this approach through eight tracks that move between progressive metal, technical death metal and more experimental territory. 

“Slave Of Denial” follows The Implication, released in September 2025, and expands A SQUANDERED POTENTIAL's growing catalog with another concentrated dose of intricate extreme metal. The Boston project officially formed in 2022 and has remained independent, with its music exploring themes including personal struggles and society. Their own description of the project points toward influences spanning progressive and technical death metal, while the band's catalog reflects an emphasis on elaborate musicianship and layered arrangements.
