Japanese metalcore force CRYSTAL LAKE have officially entered a new era, announcing PK of Prompts as their new permanent vocalist. The announcement arrives after a turbulent year for the band, which saw vocalist John Robert Centorrino depart in March after three years with the group. Rather than stepping away, CRYSTAL LAKE continued their touring schedule with a succession of guest vocalists, including Myke Terry of Volumes and Fire From The Gods, Wade Walters of Secrets and Travis Worland of Enterprise Earth. Now, with PK officially taking the microphone, the band have found the permanent voice to lead them into their next chapter.
For PK, the move carries particular significance. The Korean-born vocalist relocated to Japan in pursuit of a future in music, with CRYSTAL LAKE itself among the major inspirations behind that decision. Having followed the band for years, PK joins a group that has become one of the most influential names in Japan's modern heavy music scene and a major force throughout Asia. His arrival also creates an intriguing connection between two respected acts, as PK remains known as the frontman of Prompts while now taking on his new role with CRYSTAL LAKE.
The timing is particularly interesting following the release of CRYSTAL LAKE's seventh studio album, The Weight of Sound, in January 2026 through Century Media Records. The 11-track record featured guest appearances from artists including David Simonich, Jesse Leach, Myke Terry, Taylor Barber and Karl Schubach, pushing the band's established metalcore foundation into territory incorporating deathcore weight, electronics and expansive melodic elements. With that album now forming the latest chapter of the band's catalogue, PK steps into a band already operating at an ambitious point in its evolution.
The next phase is already taking shape, with CRYSTAL LAKE scheduled to headline their own TRUE NORTH FESTIVAL 2026 at Toyosu PIT in Tokyo on November 22. For a band that has spent much of 2026 navigating change, the arrival of PK represents something more important than simply filling an empty position — it is a chance to move forward. A new voice is now behind the microphone, the future is open, and CRYSTAL LAKE appear ready to prove that their next chapter can be every bit as relentless as everything that came before.
