Brutal Assault has announced a groundbreaking three-year partnership with Savage Lands, launching in 2026 with a shared mission to turn the global metal community into a driving force for biodiversity conservation. As environmental challenges continue to intensify worldwide, the Czech festival and the conservation-focused nonprofit are joining forces to prove that music festivals can leave behind more than unforgettable performances—they can create a lasting environmental legacy. Building on Savage Lands' previous collaborations with major festivals, including Hellfest, the partnership represents another significant step toward uniting artists, fans, and festivals through meaningful conservation efforts.
At the heart of the collaboration is the fusion of Brutal Assault's long-running Brutal Forest initiative with Savage Lands' Army of the Trees movement. For more than six years, Brutal Forest has led reforestation efforts across the Czech Republic, planting over 12,000 trees. Meanwhile, Savage Lands—founded by Dirk Verbeuren of Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and conservationist Sylvain Demercastel—channels 100 percent of its music royalties and partnership revenues into protecting threatened ecosystems through land acquisition, habitat restoration, and permanent biodiversity sanctuaries. Together, the two organizations aim to expand the reach of Brutal Forest while inspiring festivals around the world to develop their own environmental initiatives.
The partnership will unfold over three years with a clear roadmap. In 2026, festivalgoers will see the introduction of official Army of the Trees × Brutal Assault merchandise, dedicated Savage Lands eco-cups, awareness campaigns, and expanded promotion of the Brutal Forest project throughout the festival. In 2027, as Brutal Assault celebrates its 30th anniversary, the festival will welcome Savage Lands' Biodiversity Tour, a series of performances where every show directly supports conservation projects in the host country. The collaboration will continue into 2028 with the expansion of Brutal Forest and the development of new biodiversity initiatives designed to leave healthier ecosystems for future generations.
More than a sustainability initiative, the partnership is a call to action for the entire cultural sector. Brutal Assault and Savage Lands believe the biodiversity crisis cannot be solved by governments and environmental organizations alone—it also requires artists, festivals, audiences, and cultural institutions to become active participants in protecting the natural world. By connecting unique environmental projects under the Army of the Trees banner, the organizations hope to inspire a new generation of festivals to measure their legacy not only by the music they present, but by the forests and ecosystems they help preserve.
