FAKEYOURDEATH Reveal Defiant New Single “Shapeshifter”

UK electronic/post-hardcore agitators FAKEYOURDEATH return with Shapeshifter, unveiled through a new music video and serving as the first offering from their upcoming second EP (NON)ENTITY, due out on March 13th, 2026. Following 2024’s null/void, the band continue to sharpen their identity by fusing abrasive electronic and industrial textures with post-hardcore intensity. Produced by Wayne Adams (Petbrick, Big Lad, Wasted Death), Shapeshifter marks the beginning of a new chapter — louder, more confrontational, and unapologetically self-aware.

Sonically, Shapeshifter thrives on tension and release. Mechanical beats and distorted electronics form a suffocating backbone, while post-hardcore dynamics cut through with urgency and bite. The track moves with controlled aggression, constantly shifting yet never losing focus, channeling influences such as HEALTH, Nine Inch Nails, and Youth Code without falling into imitation. Every layer feels intentional, reinforcing the song’s core theme of transformation and reclamation.

Lyrically, Shapeshifter is a statement of self-worth and defiance. Vocalist Candi Underwood describes the track as “a song about regaining power and self-worth after years of masking and pretending to be someone else, just to fit in,” adding that it’s about unmasking and being “unashamedly yourself, whatever the consequences may be.” The accompanying music video visually reflects that message, pairing intensity with vulnerability and underscoring the emotional weight carried throughout the song.

Since their debut, FAKEYOURDEATH have steadily built momentum across the heavy music landscape. Tracks from null/void landed on the official Kerrang! chart, Knotfest’s Pulse Of The Maggots playlist, and Metal Hammer’s Best New Songs You Need To Hear Right Now, alongside accolades including Total Rock’s Debut Single of the Year. Known for their dramatic and immersive live performances — sharing stages with artists such as Empire State Bastard, Youth Code, and Frontierer — Shapeshifter signals a bold step forward. With (NON)ENTITY on the horizon, FAKEYOURDEATH are done hiding, and they’re not asking for permission.
