THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN will be playing at Brutal Assault this year. An exclusive show in Western and Central European metal festivals, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN will be performing a Calculating Infinity set (with some additions) for the 25th anniversary of their debut album. TDEP, who have pushed the boundaries of extreme metal, has millions of fans, and influenced thousands of musicians, will return to the stage for this special occasion after seven years. Dimitri Minakakis will join them on stage.
„I wanted to take this time to thank everyone for welcoming me back to the stage for these 25 anniversary of Calculating shows. Watching my friends travel the world, and achieve so many heights with the band was sometimes like a Sugar Coted Sour. It made me very proud but also left me longing to get up there and sing some of these songs I wrote for all you amazing people who started following the band after I left,“ says Dimitri, who left the band in 2001 for family reasons.
„But now it’s time for the three of us, along with my dude Billy, who has been the longest and most prolific contributing Dillinger drummer, and the mighty James Love, to send off our first child in a way we had never had the opportunity to do in it’s infancy,“ adds Dimitri.
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN achieved huge success with Calculating Infinity with over 100,000 copies sold, it became the best-selling album on Relapse Records at that time. Critics described it as a breakthrough in hardcore punk and heavy metal music. With six albums released, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN they split up in 2017. However, for this anniversary, they decided to exclusively return to the stages and bring their special performance to Brutal Assault fans.
At the same time, the line-up has grown by another thirteen names, making over 90% of the bands announced.
This year, the fortress will welcome for the first time BEWITCHED with their "pre-thrash black metal", the occult thrash/black MORTUARY DRAPE, and the distilled evil at a top speed of Poland's TOTENMESSE. Also coming for the first time - from America huntress of darkness EMMA RUTH RUNDLE, from Australia instrumental djent trio THE OMNIFIC, and from Belgium progressive stoners MY DILIGENCE.
Avant-garde jazz-black IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT, sophisticated SYLOSIS and folk-black-death trolls FINNTROLL will be back on the brutal stages.
Death metal fans will also find something to their liking in the newly announced names, as European death metal icons PESTILENCE, progressive/technical death metal matadors GOROD, the daring DISKORD, combining old school, technical death metal and jazz elements, and the purely brutal underground KRONOS will come to the Fortress this year.
