MOON TOOTH - Release New Single 'Grimothy' Out Now Via Pure Noise Records

Moon Tooth released their first new music since their album Phototroph (13th May 2022 via Pure Noise Records) with the release of “Grimothy”. This is also the bands first new music since guitarist Nick Lee's medically induced coma and being diagnosed with limbic encephalitic in 2022.

Speaking about the new song guitarist Nick Lee said, "There were plenty of songs and riffs to pick from when we decided to release a new song before this tour but something about "Grimothy" really spoke to the insanity I was experiencing from going through Limbic Encephalitis and the meds they were throwing at me.... It was almost as if this song was musically explaining what I was going through. That and the fact that my bandmates all agreed that the title "Grimothy" even though it was kind of silly was the perfect title for it really hit the nail on the head... It was almost as if we gave my experience a name. Plus it really took some of my favorite bands (Metallica, Motorhead, Pantera, Slayer) and ran with them... Also, I love the fact that even though the guitar solo was a total improv nut-job moment and everyone in the band seemed to love it more than all the solos I spent countless hours on our 'Phototroph' album, it kind of gave me the answer... Also, our own Ray Marte did such an amazing job producing, mixing, and mastering it! "

Adding vocalist John Carbone said, "Similar to themes we've written about in the past, Grimothy explores the idea of having one true will or purpose and the awful toll it takes on mind, body and spirit when you're kept from that most potent sense of freedom and belonging. How it feels like trying to stifle a volcano every minute of every day. It speaks to different factors in life that knowingly or unknowingly contribute in the fight against realizing a vision. And how the only way to kill a dream is by not acting on it.”

MOON TOOTH is vocalist John Carbone, guitar player Nick Lee, drummer Ray Marte, and bass player Vincent Romanelli. The Long Island-based band self-released their debut album, Chromaparagon, in early 2016. Metal Injection, in one of Moon Tooth’s earliest reviews, said the foursome “establish a riveting precedent of what can be created within the wide parameters of modern progressive music.” The band went on to catch the attention of heavy music fans, critics and labels alike, leading to Pure Noise Records signing Moon Tooth and re-releasing their widely-praised album, Crux, in 2019. The 11-song collection, co-produced by Machine (King Crimson, Every Time I Die) and Lamb of God’s Mark Morton, led to the band being championed by Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, leading to placements on both outlet’s Best of 2019 year-end lists.
