HOSTAGE - Showing Brand New Video Single "Afterall"

Being human means being subject to cycles. The ones we open and close, defining us throughout our lives, the cycles of nature that make us what we are substantially, and the cycles in the lives of others that we become a part of. A mere metaphorical figure? Yes, but one which our psyche depends on especially in desperate times of cycles that just won’t close, as it’s mostly then that we are seeking encouraging comfort in order to move on. Countless variations of what we know as the rise of the phoenix emerging from cultures all over the world gave witness: It’s been like this from the beginning of mankind.

HOSTAGE, a bright shooting star amongst modern metalcore acts, have now given this fundamental mechanism of our souls a very special place: Afterall is their brand new video single and also the very song that doesn’t just end their upcoming album MEMENTO MORI, but really wraps it all up. It’s a melancholic yet uplifting song on a very thoughtful record, and one that’s supposed to unleash the power that helps us to push through: “Fighting throughout life while clinging on to your hope for better times is totally worth it,” says HOSTAGE singer Noah. “Because bad episodes will end eventually, and after each of these phases our personalities come off as much stronger than they were before. The song just shows what’s already at our fingertips without us realizing it.”

Afterall is more than just a song about finding closure, though – marking the closing chapter of a young band’s debut album while citing and referencing numerous tracks that came before it – it is a piece of closure in itself: from a creative period taking place in a time that forced our youngest behind doors and windows with not much to look out for except themselves. These guys did come off stronger after rooting around for mind and soul.hervorgegangen.

Ever so often one story has to end for another to begin. And whether it’s a good story in the book of one’s life that’s making room for whatever might come next, or a sad one revealing its ending that’s been begged and prayed for: There’s always at least a crumb of comfort there to be found – if just looking for it wasn’t so damn hard for us at times. HOSTAGE’s Afterall can actually help sharpen our view. An invigorating slipstream of a song that gets you going, hailing understanding and closure.

Afterall is available now on all platforms, HOSTAGE’s album MEMENTO MORI will be released on Friday, October 28th, worldwide through ADA/Warner Music Central Europe.
