" Al Gore Rhythm was one of the easiest and most natural songwriting processes we've ever had. From Jake and Sam’s living room to Joe's flat to be fleshed out, then into the practice room, we knew instantly that this one was going to be fun to play live. “We really leant into the progressive aspect of our sound on this one, to the point that we managed to cram a ton of contrasting feelings and dynamics into an incredibly small run time.” “Lyrically, Al Gore Rhythm is a love song to yourself. It's about finding positivity in yourself at a time when that seemed impossible and the catharsis that comes with truly loving and accepting who you are as a person for the first time in your life.” – Vocalist, Jake Hough.
‘Al Gore Rhythm’ follows the staggering release of single ‘Swerve’ which marked a
new approach to the band’s writing, doubling down on the technical flourishes and
unusual shifts in rhythm presented in ‘Blight Town' but framing them within a
sweeter, catchier context. It caught the attention of many respected media outlets
included Triple J’s ‘Short Fast Loud’, Punktastic, YouTube Music, Total Rock,
ERB Radio and many more.
Despite a global pandemic taking up the majority of the band's existence, Blight
Town have fought to make their mark on the live circuit, with appearances at Tech
Fest 2022, Mangata Festival, Techabilitation and support shows with Arkdown,
Selfworth, Reclaimer, Black Orchid Empire.
