PANTERA - 30 Anniversary Of Vulgar Display of Power, Anselmo & Rex Brown Tell Wild Tales Behind Metal Masterpiece (VIDEO)

On February 25th, 1992, Pantera released their landmark album, Vulgar Display of Power, into the world, and metal hasn’t been the same since. The Texas band — vocalist Philip H. Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul — locked into a devastatingly heavy, groovy and emotionally scabrous sweet spot on this record that flipped the genre on its head then and continues to resonate today. In honor of the album turning 30, Jimmy Hubbard of Revolver had a long conversation with Pantera’s surviving members, Anselmo and Brown, about VDOP’s historic recording sessions, the tour shenanigans and drinking games they got into at the time, some warm memories of Dimebag and Vinnie, and the monumental impact the record had on metal — both as a community and a genre.
