APHYXION - Is Back and Moving The Boundaries Of Their Sound Once More!

Once named the saviors of melodic death metal by Metal Hammer, APHYXION are not ones to succumb to genre definitions, and through the past couple of years the quintet has kept perfecting and pushing their sound even further away from their death metal heritage. Today they present the brand new single ‘Memory Trace’, a track that will warm your neck muscles, make you lose your voice and press that replay button again and again – watch the accompanying music video above.

“This song was written at a house in the middle of nowhere during lockdown. It gave us the time to experiment with things and try out new stuff. See things from another perspective, so to speak. This is what we ended up with and we’re damn proud of it! We’re always trying to push the boundaries of what we can do, and this time we put a lot of focus on the more tonal and melodic aspects of Michael’s voice. This opened up new paths for us to explore and we’re beyond excited about what we ended up with. Cabin fever at its best”, guitarist and producer Jonas Haagensen muses.

The release of their third full-length album ‘Void’ in 2019, marked the switch from death metal towards a more contemporary metalcore sound, creating something that elevated the band to a new level. Streaming more than 4 million times across streaming platforms, supporting heavy giants such as Metallica, Soilwork, Soulfly and playing over 100 shows all over Europe, these five young guys are slowly but steadily moving their way to the top. The new single is produced by APHYXION’s own Jonas Haagensen and mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Amaranthe, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, Volbeat).

‘Memory Trace’ is now available on all streaming services.
