Guitarist Bradley laments that "...the song is about the best and worst times of my life. They coexisted. Through the worst parts a lot of beautiful things bloomed - and this song expresses the frustration and the letting go in that time period."

Back in early 2020, the now members of sunbleached were winding down from previous music projects - and set out to create a fresh and authentic alternative rock sound inspired from decades passed and reimagined.

The sonic influence on their musical fingerprint is broad and exciting, ranging from 90’s and 00’s greats like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and Silverchair, all the way though to more modern influences like Citizen, Basement, and Nothing. In a pact to create honest music with no compromise, they endeavour to do justice to their influences through dreamy studio recordings and high energy live performances.

With 2020 being a hard year to start up a project, sunbleached have not wavered from their goal, COVID-allowing. Previous single, ‘Rain On Hot Cement’, which closed out a trio of singles, had a successful campaign locally and abroad with premieres and multiple spins on triple J (Short. Fast. Loud. and Unearthed) leaving them with some solid reviews on triple J Unearthed. This single also launched the band into a sold out first show at the ‘Best Served Loud’ festival by Young Henrys and Greaser Bar. The band was also scheduled to join FANGZ in Brisbane on their sold out ‘Prove Me Wrong’ tour, and to play ‘From The Floor Up’ music festival at the Triffid - both of which, unfortunately were rescheduled due to the impacts of COVID-19.

‘Flowers Grow From Ugly Places’ is an exciting new leap forward for the band. The single is a labour of love, produced and mixed by Tristan Higginson from Waxflower - a childhood friend of guitarist, Joey. With the help of Tristan, the band also have Grant Berry from Fader Mastering on board working on the mastering of the track. Grant Berry having worked with a number of influential artists respected by the boys, such as All Time Low, Being As An Ocean, While She Sleeps, Yours Truly and many more.
