AFTER SMOKE CLEARS - Release Video For New Single "Obsessed"

AFTER SMOKE CLEARS, the four-piece metal band from London is paving an unwavering path through the underground metal scene, garnering formidable positive attention from heavyweight metal publications including Metal Hammer and Metal Injection.

AFTER SMOKE CLEARS has the grit and guts to make things happen. In 2020 - possibly the most difficult year for music in recent history - the band accrued 200,000 streams across digital platforms as part of the fully self-funded and self-managed album release for the debut album Edification.

After kicking off their 2021 campaign with the aggressive and fiery ‘FUOCO’, there is much anticipation for the launch of the next single ‘OBSESSED’ - recorded, mixed and mastered by the extremely experienced and talented John Mitchell (Architects, Enter Shikari, You Me At Six) at Outhouse Studios.

Obsessed contains all the elements of a modern metal rager: downtuned and catchy riffs, semi-melodic choruses and a crushingly heavy middle eight section. It contains some progressive elements, and is also the bands first foray into using (a touch of) clean vocals.

Lyrically, Obsessed is an account of the frontman Nick’s experience of dealing with obsessive thoughts, and how this affects his reality. The song details the benefits and drawbacks of dealing with this in day to day life.

The moral of the track is ‘Don’t feed the beast’ - using the analogy of a wild beast to highlight that the more you commit to obsessive behaviours, the harder it is to stop, and that it’s possible to keep the beast asleep with discipline.

The video was directed and produced by Faded Neon Films, who perfectly captured the raw emotion of the song’s lyrical theme. Prior to the worldwide pandemic, AFTER SMOKE CLEARS have established themselves as passionate and explosive performers. The band has already shared the stage with a variety of high-profile artists including As Everything Unfolds, Vexed and THECITYISOURS and has brought its high-energy show to the stages of Facedown, Camden Rocks Festival, and Summit Fest. And this is just the beginning.

AFTER SMOKE CLEARS is making their first live appearance for 18 months at The Black Heart, Camden on 27th August - where the audience will see Obsessed played live for the first time ever.
