OSAKA PUNCH - Release New Single/Video "Drones"

Brisbane's favourite sons of quirky prog, funk & heavy - the mighty Osaka Punch... ARE BACK! Today, they announce the imminent arrival of their new single 'Drones' - along with the filmclip for the heavier-than-usual-but-no-less-funk-and-prog-infused track. The track is out today in all online stores at http://ffm.to/OP_drones.

Drones premiered on triple j on Tuesday night on The Racket with Mitch Alexander, who said that Osaka Punch "...just don't release any bad songs. It's Fun, it's Funky, You can dance to it, you can mosh to it, and I am very, very glad they are releasing new music."

To celebrate the birth of their latest heavy funk baby, they are taking over Brisbane's iconic The Zoo on Friday November 1st along with LeSuits, Weightless in Orbit and The Patient Lounge. Tickets are already running low, but there are still some left available at oztix.com.au!

Produced by Caleb James and Osaka Punch, & Mixed & Mastered by Forrester Savell, the new track Drones is Osaka Punch's way of capping off a brilliant year - and heralding the first taste of a forthcoming record for them in 2020.

Frontman Jack Muzak said of the new track - "Some people stand for what’s right, others stand for only themselves. While the Greta Thunbergs, Martin Luther Kings, and Michael Boltons of the world hold a light up to the injustices that plague our society, cretins still stand atop an Everest of evil, pissing in the wind. But when all the resources are gone, the last river has dried, and society has cannibalised itself to oblivion, they can rest upon their mountain, licking yellow snow cones, and wiping their arses with $100 bills."

The clip for Drones is a collaboration with Dan MacArthur from 18 degrees who came up with the performance location and concept. Muzak went on to say that "The narrative side of the clip takes influence from the movies like "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" crossed with comedic Tarantino-style characters. It wouldn't be an Osaka Punch clip without some kinda stupidity right?"

Osaka Punch have forged a reputation as one of Australia’s most wildly entertaining live acts. The group’s distinctive fusion of catchy pop, jazz chops and dank grooves sets them apart from most heavy acts - allowing them an element of humour and satire in an otherwise very serious scene. Having toured Australia, the UK, and Scandinavia over the past 5 years, Osaka Punch have honed their live set to a fine art. This combined with well-crafted songs, and world class musicianship, makes Osaka Punch one of Australia’s must see live acts.

If you haven't experienced the 'Punch yet, you have to get up to speed! There are quite the characters in the band, let's introduce you around. There's Jack Muzak on Vocals and Keys, The Beat Cleaver on Drums, Reggie Tuggnuts pluckin' the Bass and then there's Chrispy Town on Guitar.

2017 was a strong year for the band, completing 2 tours along the East Coast supporting Lagerstein and Twelve Foot Ninja. This raised their profile in NSW, SA, and Victoria, and further established their loyal following in their hometown of Brisbane. They were also an official showcase act at Bigsound and finished off this massive year by releasing the single 'How We Operate' with a 10 date tour across the country.

2018 saw them tour extensively with tours supporting both The Butterfly Effect and Mammal on their respective tours - expanding the OP fanbase not just to the capitals in Australia but into many of the regions as well. 2019 showed no sign of slowing down with the release of the single 'Hall of Shame' to coincide with yet another sold out national tour with the mighty COG, and then on a shared headline tour with The Omnific. Osaka Punch are certainly on an upward trajectory, and are ready to record and release their sophomore album in 2020. Combined with single releases, an album release, and full national headline tours, 2020 is set to be their biggest year to date.

Osaka Punch's new single DRONES is out now at all online stores and streaming platforms at http://ffm.to/OP_drones. Tickets are on sale now for Osaka Punch's Drones Single launch in Brisbane at The Zoo at oztix.com.au.
