INTRØSPECT - Drop New Single "Sovereign" Ft. Jacob Wilkes (Above, Below)

Sydney, Australia's new prog purveyors, Intrøspect, are today unleashing brand new single 'Sovereign'. It's a heavier take on prog - a brand new, unique flavour and blend of progressive metal. Their EP 'Ad Astra' will be released on Friday October 18 and can be pre-ordered at https://listen.introspectmusic.co/adastra.

This new single 'Sovereign' features a fierce vocal performance from Above, Below's Jacob Wilkes, and is Intrøspect’s first track to include screamed vocals. Jacob’s devastating performance dances with frontwoman Felicity Jayne’s ethereal voice to construct a haunting atmosphere, underscored by an onslaught of dense riffage and crushing breakdowns.

According to Felicity Jayne, frontwoman/vocalist for the band, "Sovereign is the heaviest song on the ‘Ad Astra’ EP and draws inspiration from Carl Jung’s conception of the shadow. According to Jung, each individual has a ‘shadow’ self, composed of their darker tendencies , pushed into the subconscious by societal norms and culture. The shadow contains our innate propensities for violence and chaos, but at the same time includes the power to stand up for yourself and others, to fight back against oppression and injustice- to be sovereign. Sovereign is a reminder that each of us has a darkness within, and we are not truly empowered until we’ve reckoned with it, and integrated it."

This is Intrøspect's Debut EP - and the quartet combine soaring vocal melodies, complex riffs and heavy grooves to construct a sonic landscape drenched in emotion, and imbued with passion and hope. Across a 25-minute runtime, the band aim to take the audience on an emotional and spiritual journey, from the heights of ecstatic bliss, to the depths of despair and back again.

Adding to all the excitement, Intrøspect will also be launching the EP alongside Glass Ocean and Opus of A Machine in Sydney on Saturday November 30th as a support at Factory Floor. Tickets are available now at wildthingpresents.com.

Taking inspiration from bands like Northlane, Periphery, Evanescence, TesseracT, Karnivool and The Contortionist, Intrøspect are Felicity Jayne on Vocals, Loko McDonald and Jamie McVicker on Guitars and Hugo Rumore on Drums.

Intrøspect's EP Ad Astra is out Friday October 18 and is available for pre-order now for all digital stores and streaming outlets at https://listen.introspectmusic.co/adastra.
