Born in 2012, Conquer Divide released last year their self titled debut album and have been touring across US. We had a pleasure to talk with guitarist Izzy and bass player Ashley about making of the new video, tour, recording, movies and their influences.
First of all, congrats for the debut album! Let's start with the obvious one. You just made a new video for the 'What's Left Inside' song. How was the filming process and why this song for the video?
Izzy: We chose What's left inside because it appears to be a fan favorite and we have already released some pretty heavy singles already, this is a lighter song so shows the diversity of our album!
Ashley: The filming process for the video was great. I am new to the band, so this was my first ever music video shoot and I was so excited to be a part of it. The director did a great job capturing not only the story behind the song and what we wanted to tell our audience through the song as well. Overall, the shoot when smoothly and we had a ton of fun shooting it!
You recently finished touring with Slaves, Capture The Crown, Myka Relocate and Outline In Colour. How was it? How was the feedback? Did the guys helped you and been a gentlemans?
Ashley: It was a great experience! We all had a great time touring with them. All the guys were always willing to help us out, especially if we needed help carrying heavy equipment on stage etc., and really treated us just as they would any other band. Overall, the feedback from the tour was great and we met so many new fans.
You worked with acclaimed producer Joey Strugis (Asking Alexandria, Of Mice and Men, Blessthefall) on the debut. How did you came up with him? How was the working process?
Izzy: Working with Joey Sturgis was a great experience, he really pushes the musicians he works with to bring out the best in them. He really made our songs the best they could be.
Apart being all female band you are from all parts, US to UK and from Serbia also. How did you girls meet?
Izzy: We met over the internet!
What are your influences or at least the main one? What do you listen to?
Izzy: We draw influences musically from other bands on the scene like Parkway Drive/August Burns Red but clean vocally we are influenced by bands like Paramore and even some pop artists.
What kind of movies do you enjoy watching?
Izzy: I like all kind of movies, I just go on Netflix and binge watch.
Ashley: I love horror movies!
What's for the Conquer Divide next? More touring? Europe plans? Next album? Do you have any new songs?
Izzy: We just released a video for our song What's left inside! We hope to land some new tours in the USA, we have no Europe plans yet but that's definitely we would like to do in the future. We are spending the remainder of this year writing an acoustic ep and our second album!
