70000 TONS OF METAL

A four-and-a-half-minute CNN video report on this year's installment of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise — which set sail Monday, January 23 aboard the Royal Caribbean Majesty Of The Seas from Miami, Florida to George Town, Cayman Islands and will return to the real world today (Friday, January 27) — can be seen velow. The segment features interview clips with crew members, fans and members of the heavy metal media and contains performance footage of a couple of the participating bands, including NIGHTWISH and ALESTORM.

CNN's Percy von Lipinski reports: "I'm on board of 70000 tons of metal, Heavy Metal that is. Heavy metal is actually part of a very wide range of music that can utilize much more than typically loud guitars and drums. I saw everything from bagpipes to harps. This concert though took place on a cruise ship and without having to worry about disturbing the neighbours you can rest assured ear plugs were in high demand."
