SHINEDOWN continue the rollout of their forthcoming album EI8HT with the release of the official music video for “Safe And Sound,” a project that places fan creativity and artistic collaboration at its center. The video arrives as the winning entry of the band’s “Safe And Sound” music video contest, showcasing a unique vision that reimagines how rock music can be interpreted through movement and visual storytelling.
Created by Los Angeles-based choreographers David Matthew Rodriguez, Sean Lay, and Adrian Pekurovsky, the video brings together artists trained in a variety of dance disciplines, from classical techniques to commercial performance styles. Their goal was to challenge expectations and present a fresh perspective on how rock music can be experienced, creating something that feels both unexpected and authentic to the song’s emotional core.
Speaking about the concept, choreographer David Matthew Rodriguez explained: “Incorporating dance into a track such as ‘Safe And Sound’ isn’t something that many have seen before.. and that was the objective! To be epically original! Rock music is filled with so much passion and emotion. With Safe And Sound, our goal was to translate those words into strong, unapologetically confident movement.” The result is a creative interpretation that highlights the song’s themes while expanding the visual language typically associated with modern rock releases.
With “Safe And Sound,” SHINEDOWN once again demonstrate their willingness to embrace new ideas and celebrate the creativity of their community. As anticipation continues to build for EI8HT, the release serves as a reminder that the band's connection with fans extends far beyond the music itself, creating opportunities for collaboration, expression, and innovation along the way.
