SARA Release New Single 'Mitä ihminen katuu' From Forthcoming Album

Finnish alternative metal outfit SARA have previously announced their brand new album Í heiminum, which will be released on 22nd January, 2027. The band, who recently celebrated their 30th anniversary, are now releasing their second new single 'Mitä ihminen katuu', a track about what we are really searching for, and what we long for in the end.

Vocalist/guitarist Joa comments on the track: "'Mitä ihminen katuu' originated on an acoustic guitar, but the first version didn't really feel like a SARA song. I started thinking about taking it to a bigger, heavier direction. The first verse drew some influence from Nine Inch Nails, and the original, somewhat more traditional acoustic choruses were put through the ‘SARAlizer.’ After that, the pieces started falling into place, and the song grew around heavy riffs and a big, melodic chorus. It’s about what we regret before we rot or burn, wanting to leave but fearing we’ll never return."

SARA is an alternative metal band founded in 1995 in Kaskinen, Finland. Drawing inspiration from influential metal acts such as Tool, Deftones, and Nine Inch Nails, alongside alternative rock artists including Mew and Kent, the band has developed a distinctive sound built around atmosphere, intensity, and emotional depth.

After winning the 'Ääni ja vimma' competition in 1999, SARA released their debut album Narupatsaat, marking the beginning of a career defined by constant evolution and a commitment to pushing their creative boundaries. Known for their unique sonic identity and frontman Joa Korhonen’s distinctive vocals, the band quickly gained recognition, including an Emma Award nomination for the song 'Rauhan aika'.

Over the years, SARA have released several acclaimed albums, including Kromi, He kutsuivat luokseen, SUMMA and Pimeys, the latter featuring the hard-hitting single 'Se osa joka rikkoo'. Each release has highlighted the band's ability to evolve while preserving the atmospheric and emotionally charged elements that have become central to their sound.

Their 10th studio album, Hallava, was released on January 17th, 2025, earning an Emma Award nomination in the Metal Album of the Year category. The album was also selected as Critics’ Album of the Year 2025 by Finnish music magazines Soundi and Inferno, further reinforcing SARA’s enduring impact on Finland’s alternative metal scene.

Í heiminum (translation: 'in the world') explores the search for connection and meaning in the world. Time, consciousness, power and the world around us shape that search at every turn. It begins with distance: a sense of being cut off from home, and a longing for a way back to the world, to ourselves and to one another. Yet the very whole we try to understand is the one we already belong to. We are consciousness observing itself, so the answers are not found outside of us. They are found within. In the end, the album arrives at a quiet realisation: we have never truly been separate from the world.

Í heiminum is built on empathy, peace, truth and forgiveness.
