At just 11 years old, Buenos Aires, Argentina-based guitarist and composer ADRIEL THALL is already building a distinctive musical world within thall, a heavy, down-tuned branch of progressive metal characterized by dissonant riffs and glitch textures. Having started playing guitar at the age of five, Adriel has taken an unusually hands-on approach to his music, writing, recording, mixing, and mastering his own material. His latest single, “The Past Of The Spirit,” released in October 2026, features ELLIOT MERRIMAN, guitarist of OUR COMMON COLLAPSE, and arrives with an official video. Distributed by Arson Theory, the release continues Adriel’s development as a young artist exploring the darker and more experimental corners of progressive metal.
“The Past Of The Spirit” explores the idea of a spirit carrying memories from previous lives, focusing on the experiences and events that may have shaped it before the present. The concept gives the track a connection to reincarnation and the possibility that a person's existence extends beyond what they remember in their current life. Rather than presenting the past as something limited to a single lifetime, Adriel approaches it through a broader, spiritual perspective, bringing the idea of previous experiences into the world of his music.
The collaboration with ELLIOT MERRIMAN adds another dimension to the single. Known as the guitarist of OUR COMMON COLLAPSE, Merriman also wrote riffs for CATSCLAW’s latest album, Perfect Death. His involvement brings together artists working within the heavier end of modern progressive music, with “The Past Of The Spirit” continuing Adriel’s exploration of down-tuned heaviness, dissonance, and experimental textures. The official video provides a visual companion to the release, bringing the collaboration to a wider audience.
Adriel began releasing music in September 2025 with his debut single, “Here Is The End,” followed by “Luar Soit” in November 2025 and a thall interpretation of Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango” in June 2026. Beyond his solo work, he also writes and produces for PSYCHOGRAPHY. With “The Past Of The Spirit,” ADRIEL THALL continues to develop his own sound while collaborating with established musicians from the modern heavy scene.
