Bristol, UK melodic hardcore outfit DOWNPOUR return with their new EP The Search For Permanence, released September 11, 2026, alongside “Memories,” the latest single from the six-track collection. Formed in 2023, the band features members of former Bristol acts Lock & Key and We Struck Gold, bringing together years of experience within the local heavy-music scene. Their latest material sees DOWNPOUR pushing their melodic hardcore sound into darker and heavier territory, with the new EP described by the band as heavier than anything they have created previously.
“Memories” carries a particularly emotional weight within the new release. The song is built around melody and energy, while its subject matter turns toward remembrance, grief and finding some form of closure through the memories left behind. The track has already been part of DOWNPOUR’s live repertoire, giving the band an opportunity to develop its impact onstage before bringing it to a wider audience through the new EP.
The Search For Permanence follows the band’s previous full-length Where There Is Life, There Is Hope and consists of six tracks: “Permanence,” “Bullet Points,” “Wounds,” “Barely Afloat,” “Erased” and “Memories.” Across the release, DOWNPOUR deliberately explore a darker side of their songwriting, combining the emotional pull of melodic hardcore with heavier moments and a more forceful overall approach.
