Vienna, Austria-based ANCHORAGE have returned with “Dead Skies,” a new single that continues the band’s evolution within the Austrian heavy music scene. The track follows the group’s latest single “Silence,” released in June 2026, and adds another chapter to a catalogue that has seen ANCHORAGE move between post-hardcore intensity, modern metal and melodic songwriting. The band first emerged in 2016 and quickly established themselves in Vienna’s underground before appearing at Nova Rock and releasing their debut EP The Fifth Wall in 2019.
“Dead Skies” brings together the contrasting elements that have long shaped ANCHORAGE’s approach, pairing weighty instrumentation with memorable melodic passages and an emotionally direct vocal presence. The new track follows the band’s 2024 album Uncontrolled, which featured songs including “Dying For Perfection,” “Blackout,” “Overthrow,” “Live To Grow” and “Build And Destroy.” Their current material continues to show a band willing to develop its sound while maintaining the energy that has defined their live performances.
ANCHORAGE have built their reputation through years of performances across Austria, including appearances at Nova Rock and their own Anchorfest at Arena Wien. Their 2019 debut EP The Fifth Wall helped establish the band nationally, while later releases and regular live appearances have kept them active within the Austrian heavy music circuit. “Dead Skies” now arrives as another step in that ongoing progression.
With “Dead Skies,” ANCHORAGE continue pushing their sound forward while retaining the melodic edge and heaviness that have become central to their identity. The Vienna outfit are entering another chapter with fresh material and plenty of momentum behind them.
