The world's most iconic metal festival has fired the opening shot for next summer, as Wacken Open Air 2027 has revealed an enormous first wave of artists set to descend on the legendary Holy Ground from July 28–31, 2027. Blending long-awaited reunions, exclusive performances, farewell appearances, and some of the biggest names in modern heavy music, the initial lineup already promises another unforgettable chapter in Wacken's storied history.
Leading the announcement are Five Finger Death Punch, who return to Wacken armed with a brand-new album, while the return of Children Of Bodom in tribute to the late Alexi Laiho stands as one of the most emotional and highly anticipated moments of the festival. Fans of classic and modern metal alike will also have plenty to celebrate, with Edguy bringing their Farewell Tour to Holy Ground, Helloween performing an exclusive festival show, DragonForce adding their signature speed and melody, Electric Callboy returning with their trademark high-energy spectacle, Heavens Gate continuing their reunion, HammerFall celebrating the legendary Glory to the Brave, and John Bush revisiting the songs of Anthrax.>
The heavier end of the spectrum is equally impressive, with Knocked Loose, Cavalera Conspiracy, Avatar, Shadow Of Intent, Carnifex, Sylosis, Make Them Suffer, and Gaerea ensuring no shortage of crushing performances. The lineup is further strengthened by appearances from Halestorm, Dark Tranquillity, Overkill, Primordial, Feuerschwanz, Beast In Black, and many more, creating a diverse bill that spans virtually every corner of the metal world.
Although this is only the first announcement, Wacken Open Air 2027 is already shaping up to be one of the standout festivals of the year. With four days of world-class performances scheduled between July 28 and July 31, the Holy Ground is once again preparing to welcome thousands of metal fans for another celebration of heavy music, with plenty more bands still expected to join the lineup in the months ahead.
