Italian thrash/death metal band HELLMETALL from Resia (Udine), a remote mountain valley located at the crossroads between Italy, Austria, and Slovenia, return with their new single "Afrika", offering another glimpse into their forthcoming studio album, "Mgla" due out on September 4th, 2026, via Rockshots Records. Following the release of "Gemona Btg. Doesn't Exist Anymore", the band continues to explore the album's thematic depth through music that blends classic heavy metal with thrash influences and a strong narrative approach.
Rather than portraying a geographical or historical account, "Afrika" uses its setting as a symbolic landscape where conflict, survival, and human instinct intersect. The song reflects on the recurring nature of violence and the fragile balance between civilization and primal impulses, reinforcing the conceptual thread that runs throughout "Mgla". Musically, the track combines driving riffs, dynamic rhythms and melodic passages, remaining faithful to HELLMETALL's identity while expanding the atmosphere of the upcoming record.
Speaking about the song, the band comments:
"With 'Afrika' we wanted to tell a story that goes beyond a specific place. The setting becomes a metaphor for human nature, where fear, violence, and survival emerge in their purest form. It's one of the songs that best represents the atmosphere and message behind 'Mgla'."
Produced as part of the sessions for "Mgla", "Afrika" further showcases HELLMETALL's songwriting approach, combining aggressive energy with melodic arrangements and lyrics inspired by history, literature and reflections on the human condition. The single builds on the direction introduced by the band's previous releases while revealing another facet of the album's broader narrative.
With "Mgla", HELLMETALL continue to develop the musical identity they have refined over the years, balancing traditional heavy metal roots with modern production and storytelling. Each song contributes to a wider conceptual journey where personal experiences, historical references, and symbolic imagery converge into a cohesive listening experience.
