Swedish modern death metal force ORECUS return with their latest single “Human Drones,” marking a powerful follow-up to last year’s “Judgement” and continuing the momentum built from their sophomore album Dreadnought (2024). The new track further solidifies the band’s position within the modern extreme metal landscape, blending precision, aggression, and contemporary heaviness.
“Human Drones” delivers a tightly executed assault of crushing riffs, driving rhythms, and sharp, modern production. The band lean into a mechanical, almost industrial sense of control, crafting a track that feels both relentless and calculated, while maintaining a strong sense of groove and forward motion.
Following the success of Dreadnought, which featured guest appearances from Björn Strid (Soilwork), Filip Danielsson (Humanity's Last Breath), Joe McGlynn (Man Must Die), Kevin McCaughey (Ion Dissonance), and Peter Wichers, ORECUS continue to build on a foundation of collaboration and evolution. “Human Drones” stands as the second release since that record, showcasing a band refining their sound with each step forward.
With “Human Drones,” ORECUS push further into their modern death metal identity—delivering a track that is precise, aggressive, and unmistakably current. The evolution continues, and the machine shows no signs of slowing down.
