Alabama hardcore wrecking crew NO CURE have announced their long-awaited debut full-length album, "It Is Going To Get Dark", due out July 10th via SharpTone Records. Alongside the announcement, the band has unleashed the album’s first single, “Convulsing In The Dark,” a punishing introduction to the band’s most expansive and emotionally charged material to date.
Rooted in extreme metal precision and D.I.Y. hardcore aggression, "It Is Going To Get Dark" finds NO CURE widening their scope beyond personal experience to confront the collapse unfolding around them. Across the album, the band channels existential dread, societal decay, and internal conflict into a volatile collection of songs that are as crushing as they are cathartic.
Commenting on the record, vocalist Blaythe Steuer says:
"There is a deep malaise overhead as we are subjected to the way the world is turning. It is clear that things are getting worse, and there is no end in sight. This fixation combined with the gruelling touring lifestyle we've lived the past few years has resulted in the perfect first No Cure LP. We recorded this deep in the woods of Alabama between tours, and loss surrounded the band as it was being written. Despite the great shows and tours we've been doing, this has been a painful time for the band. Each song has purpose and it is critically important that we deliver a record that is worth listening to from start to finish. If you don't see that it is going to get dark yet... you will soon."
Produced and engineered by longtime collaborator Kevin Langley, the album was recorded during a secluded retreat in a remote cabin — the same environment that helped shape much of the band’s previous work. The result is NO CURE at their most focused, ferocious, and dynamic.
Leading the charge is “Convulsing In The Dark,” an unrelenting assault of razorwire riffing, tectonic grooves, and death metal-inspired chaos. Ominous choirs and unpredictable shifts sharpen the song’s suffocating atmosphere as Steuer delivers one of the album’s most confrontational performances.
Commenting on the new song and accompanying video, Steuer adds:
"Convulsing In The Dark brings our wide base of influences as a band into one song. It is the perfect taste of what is to come. The music video features full male nudity too, which is joyous, as Nick Chance's physical form was sculpted in the visage of a god. You are welcome for this divinely abundant opportunity to witness The Flesh Of The Chancellor."
Since emerging in 2022, NO CURE have rapidly become one of hardcore’s most talked-about new acts through a relentless string of releases including For The Stainless Steel…, The Commitment To Permanence, and I Hope I Die Here. Their uncompromising sound and chaotic live performances have earned them tours alongside The Acacia Strain, Cattle Decapitation, Boundaries, and Judiciary, while publications like NO ECHO, Brooklyn Vegan, and Lambgoat have championed the band as one of heavy music’s most promising rising forces.
