IKINÄ Unveil Expansive New Album ‘Valkyria’

Finnish modern metal/metalcore force IKINÄ return with their powerful new full-length Valkyria, a nearly 42-minute journey through atmosphere, aggression, and melodic depth. Fronted by dual vocalists Tuuli Paju and Katariina Sorsa, the band craft a dynamic and emotionally charged release that highlights both contrast and cohesion across its runtime.

From the opening moments of “Sarvet,” Valkyria establishes a commanding tone, blending crushing riffs with haunting melodies. Tracks like “Aurora,” “Raato,” and “Victoria” push forward with intensity, balancing sharp, modern metalcore energy with layered vocal interplay. The dual-vocal approach adds depth throughout, shifting between soaring cleans and fierce, cutting delivery.

Mid-album highlights such as “Elämänviiva,” “Kipujen valtakunta,” and “Viholliseni” expand the record’s emotional and sonic palette, while “Inari” and the title track “Valkyria” emphasize the band’s ability to merge atmosphere with driving heaviness. “Jumalatar” stands out as a massive collaborative effort, featuring Juliestatues, Sara Strömmer of Fear of Domination, Micha, and Choir Of Hecate, adding a grand, almost ceremonial layer to the album’s sound.

Closing track “Sydämenlyönnit” brings the record to a powerful conclusion, tying together the album’s themes of intensity and melody.

With Valkyria, IKINÄ deliver a bold and immersive statement, showcasing their strength in combining modern metal aggression with melodic sophistication and vocal versatility.
