Back with their second release, Offspec dares to combine sultry pop melody with hard-hitting metalcore elements in their newest song “Unwind” (released February 27th). This follow-up song to their debut track “Let You Go”, which received high remarks from listeners, is only the beginning of what’s yet to come from this band. Bolstered by a pre-existing fanbase of 1.4 million followers across three social media platforms, the metal-pop outfit has begun captivating an audience worldwide.
The exciting new quartet consists of Luisa Lyons (vocalist), Eric Barrera (drums), Devyn Byrd (bass), and Micheal Luce (guitar). Drawing on Lyons’s Brazilian roots and Barrera’s Peruvian roots, the group utilizes their individual musical experiences and cultural backgrounds to appeal to a diverse international audience and connect with the Latin community.
The vocalist, Luisa, is a digital artist herself - she hand draws each song artwork to represent the song and its deeper meaning. Using an array of multimedia skills, the band encourages fans to step into their world and connect through all different forms of expression and art.
Offspec’s sophomore single “Unwind,” challenges listeners to explore sexuality and intimacy on a deeper level. The song describes a story of being trapped within a societal expectation for someone to be deemed worthy only by their body and outward appearance.
Vocalist Luisa quotes, “Looking deeper into Unwind, you’ll find that there is somebody trapped inside this illusion that they’ve created of themself and they’re pleading for a way out”.
