Akademia Award-winning producer, engineer, and songwriter Matt Miller has unveiled a brand-new band playthrough video for the crushing instrumental title track of his latest album, "Fiber Tormentum." The video showcases Matt Miller (guitars, synth), Jordan Kelso (drums, synth), and Justice Robinett (bass), performing the relentless, soaring, and technically precise music that defines the band’s sound.
Formed out of Miller’s solo project during the pandemic, the band has evolved into a dynamic force blending technical death metal, symphonic atmospheres, and epic vocal hooks. After Miller’s successful solo run on the Cyber Shred Tour 2022 with Rings of Saturn, he recruited Kelso, Robinett, and Wright to bring his vision to life. Together, they tracked "Fiber Tormentum," a concept album weaving sci-fi themes of alien DNA manipulation with blistering riffs and cinematic intensity.
“Fans will be pleasantly surprised. This is the first album as a full band with vocals, and it features the heaviest, most melodic, and most technical music I’ve ever written. It’s overwhelming, catchy, and relentless,” says Miller.
The playthrough video highlights the album’s title track, an instrumental centerpiece that encapsulates the record’s sweeping range, from crushing technical passages to soaring melodic peaks. The band’s chemistry is on full display, offering a glimpse into the immersive live experience they strive to deliver: dynamic, interactive, and unforgettable.
"Fiber Tormentum" draws inspiration from metal titans such as Necrophagist, Wintersun, Symphony X, Nevermore, and The Faceless, while carving out a unique identity that melds precision with emotion. The album artwork, created by Joshua Nassaru Ward, reflects the lyrical concept of humanity’s DNA being manipulated by alien forces, a visual echo of the torment and transformation explored in the music.
With a history of international touring, including support slots for Possessed on their Oblivion Over Europe Tour, and a catalog that spans from instrumental epics to progressive covers, Matt Miller and Band continue to push boundaries. The new playthrough video is both a celebration of devolution and a bold statement of what’s to come.
