San Donà di Piave, a city in the Metropolitan City of Venice, hosted a night of unrelenting heavy music at the Revolver Club, featuring Italy’s rising extremes: METHEDRINE, SONUM, MIASMIC SERUM, DESPITE EXILE, and FULCI. The evening was a showcase of brutal energy, theatricality, and crowd participation across hardcore, death, black, and deathcore subgenres.
METHEDRINE opened the night with their 20-minute hardcore/deathpunk/metal set. The four-piece Italian band immediately commanded attention, with the vocalist taking center stage and delivering a torrent of energy that drove the crowd. The compact set was tight, aggressive, and focused entirely on raw performance, setting the tone for the evening.
SONUM followed at 20:40, bringing a dark, ritualistic black metal atmosphere to the stage. Their four-piece performance featured a striking aesthetic, including a large seven-pointed eye, burning candles, and skulls adorning the guitarist’s head cases. The bassist/vocalist handled most of the growls, supported by guitar-driven screams, while the audience engaged with fists in the air and chant participation. Tibetan-style monk vocals opened their set, adding a ceremonial dimension, and they closed with a slower, atmospheric piece at 22:08, leaving a haunting impression.
At 21:26, MIASMIC SERUM took the stage with brutal death metal intensity. The four-piece band had the crowd moving instantly — the first circle pit of the night erupted, followed by crowd surfing, and the energy crescendoed with a mosh pit finale. The guitarist doubled as a vocalist, complementing the low growls of the frontman, creating a wall of sonic brutality that left the floor shaking.
DESPITE EXILE hit at 22:10, marking their set as a quasi-album release show for their freshly dropped record. The six-piece deathcore band, with three guitarists, ignited the venue immediately. Circle pits formed instantly, and the vocalist humorously appointed a crowd member as “captain of the mosh.” Bassist and guitarists contributed clean vocals, adding melodic contrast, while circle pits, crowd surfing, and nonstop aggression highlighted their intense connection with the audience.
Closing the night, FULCI brought Italian horror-inspired brutal death metal to the stage, kicking off their Italian tour. The five-piece band integrated slam elements and played alongside horror visuals, including short clips from Duck Face Killings and other gore stories projected behind them. The crowd embraced the chaos with circle pits, stage dives, and crowd surfing. While the vocalist remained focused purely on performance, the guitarist thanked the crowd during the encore, calling the venue their “second home.”
The night at Revolver Club was a masterclass in extreme metal energy and theatricality, with each band delivering their distinct flavor of heaviness while keeping the audience fully immersed. From METHEDRINE’s raw hardcore assault to SONUM’s ritualistic black metal, MIASMIC SERUM’s crushing death metal, DESPITE EXILE’s mosh-inducing deathcore, and FULCI’s horror-soaked brutality, fans were treated to an unforgettable showcase of Italian and international extreme music.
