Monosphere blend a sound that is rarely heard. Somewhere between atmospheric post-metal, complex prog, and groovy metalcore, the band from Mainz, Germany has been forging its own path since the release of its debut album “The Puppeteer” in 2021, which has long since gained a loyal following across Europe following the release of its second album “Sentience” (2023). After releasing their double single “Lapse” in January 2025, Monosphere has played as the opening act for bands such as Wage War, Gaerea, Between The Buried And Me, Car Bomb, Signs Of The Swarm, and Ne Obliviscaris, which perfectly reflects the musical mix of their new single.
“Nadir” can be seen as the third part of the double single “Lapse” according to songwriter Rodney Fuchs. "The song is based on a similar structure to our last single. Some riffs are repeated, but they are packaged differently, giving them a new vibe.“ In addition, the track ties in with familiar trademarks from their first two albums, building bridges to a musical identity that has been continuously evolving since 2021. It's no secret that “Nadir” is part of a larger chapter that was already opened with ”Lapse." After an abrupt beginning, the track develops from groovy post-metal over black metal parts with tremolo guitars and blast beats into an atmospheric metalcore sound reminiscent of Volumes' early work and influences from classical music.
With a feature by Despite Exile singer Jei Doublerice, Monosphere once again demonstrate their keen sense for interesting collaborations. In December of this year, both bands will tour Germany together on a co-headline run, performing in Munich, Cologne, Berlin, and Mainz in between December 16 and December 20. As Rodney adds:
“I've been in contact with Jei for years and am a big fan of Despite Exile and their unique style. He suggested himself (more or less ironically) in a post on Threads when the question of features came up, and within three days everything was settled. It was only logical that we then planned a tour with them.”
