MARY WAS A MACHINE: Unleash New Album "Damnatio Memoriae"

Alternative metal act Mary Was A Machine has unleashed their new album “Damnation Memoriae”, available now in all digital platform. The album - produced by Jarno Bellasio at Theorem Studio - is introduced by the new single “Confession”.

“'Confession' is one of the oldest songs in the band’s catalogue, reinterpreted and reshaped to open the album with new strength and clarity. As the first track on 'Damnatio Memoriae', it sets the emotional tone: restless, vulnerable, and driven by the need to belong to something, or someone, beyond fear. The lyrics revolve around anxiety, intrusive thoughts and the feeling of being overwhelmed, but also the hope of “freezing a moment” to escape the chaos. This duality gives 'Confession' its identity: a blend of urgency and introspection, carried by dynamic vocals and a structure that grows in tension. Revisiting this song allowed the band to reconnect with their earliest ideas and transform them into a more mature, cohesive opening statement”.

About the new album the band says: “After the singles 'Thorns', 'About You, About Me', 'Alien' and 'April’s Days', 'Damnatio Memoriae' stands as both the culmination and the starting point of what we’ve built over the past years. The album was created naturally, growing step by step as we explored new ideas and tried to make sense of our experiences. Sonically, it’s our most complete work: heavy and melancholic atmospheres, intimate moments, direct sections, and more complex arrangements. Each track adds a different layer to the album’s emotional journey. The nun imagery serves as the visual symbol of the project: each nun represents a girl, and each girl represents an emotion. The habit becomes the 'container' or constraint that hides or suppresses what lies underneath. 'Damnatio Memoriae' is about emotional memory and what remains after pain. It closes an important chapter and opens a new one. And we’re just getting started".
