LO RAYS Unleash Explosive New Single 'Scapegoat'

Heavy guitars, glitchy synths and massive choruses pull the listener straight into ‘Scapegoat'. "'Scapegoat' is about the moment you stop begging to be understood and finally say, ‘think what you want, paint me as the villain if you need to — I don’t care.’ There’s power in letting go of the need to change how someone sees you,” explains vocalist Laura Takala.

'Scapegoat' is produced by George Perks (Enter Shikari, Caskets, Skindred), singer Takala and guitarist Scott Bathgate. “We felt that Scapegoat is the perfect way to start this new era. It captures all the elements that define our sound, but it’s time to introduce a Lo Rays that is heavier, grittier and glitchier. This is the first track we have recorded fully in a studio, which made it feel like a real turning point for us,” Takala continues.

The song is released with a music video filmed and edited by Chris Wade of Dogbrain Videos (Pendulum, Wargasm) including DIY green screen work and CGI by Takala - watch BELOW!

Finnish singer Laura Takala formed the band after moving to Glasgow in 2018, following her dream to make music in the footsteps of her heroes Biffy Clyro. She met Ryan Jones (bass), Scott Bathgate (guitar/production) and Murray Bartle (drums) at a gig in the Scottish music scene. Drawing inspiration from bands like Bad Omens, Enter Shikari and Cassyette, LO RAYS’ music is made up of gritty synthesizers, heavy guitar riffs and pop hooks.

Since releasing their self-produced EP 'Algorithm Gods' in 2023, LO RAYS have been steadily gaining momentum across the Scottish and UK scenes. Their 2024 single 'Freak' was named Track of the Week on BBC Introducing Scotland, and in 2025 they were nominated for BBC Scottish Act of the Year. The band has supported acts including I See Stars, VUKOVI and North Atlas, and were longlisted for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition in 2024. Alyx Holcombe also named them “One to Watch” on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Rock in 2025.

The new track 'Scapegoat' is already available on all streaming services via Prime Collective.
