Swedish melodic death metal force THE HALO EFFECT have released the official visualizer for their blistering rendition of the W.A.S.P. classic “I Wanna Be Somebody.” The track is taken from their upcoming cover EP We Are Shadows, due out November 21 via Nuclear Blast Records. With this release, the band pay tribute to one of heavy metal’s most iconic anthems while infusing it with their signature Gothenburg sound.
Reimagining the track with crushing guitars, soaring melodies, and Mikael Stanne’s unmistakable vocals, THE HALO EFFECT breathe new fire into “I Wanna Be Somebody.” While the spirit of the original remains intact, the band elevate it with modern intensity and melodic precision, offering fans both a nostalgic throwback and a fresh, revitalized take on a legendary song.
The accompanying visualizer heightens the atmosphere, pairing the raw energy of the music with striking imagery that embodies the themes of ambition, rebellion, and defiance. It serves as a perfect bridge between past and present, underscoring how influential W.A.S.P.’s music has been on generations of metal artists, and how THE HALO EFFECT now carry that torch forward.
With We Are Shadows set to drop on November 21, this EP is shaping up to be a celebration of metal’s legacy through the lens of one of Sweden’s most exciting acts. “I Wanna Be Somebody” is more than a cover — it’s a declaration of respect, power, and passion, proving once again that THE HALO EFFECT are not only honoring the greats, but carving out their own place in history.
