Under a balmy summer sky at Casa Rossa in Gorizia — mere meters from the Slovenian border — THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS delivered a euphoric, high-energy performance that blurred the line between concert and communal celebration. But first, the evening kicked off with a bold statement from opening act LES VOTIVES.
LES VOTIVES – A Young Band with a Loud Voice
The rising indie rock Italian trio wasted no time capturing attention. From the first note, LES VOTIVES had the crowd clapping along, their chemistry undeniable. Despite their youth, the band commanded the stage with a blend of raw emotion and confidence. Each track ended with enthusiastic applause, and they closed their 30-minute set with the powerful Monster.
But it was a politically charged moment that stood out — 20 minutes into their set, the singer/guitarist Angelo Maria Randazzo raised his guitar to reveal a Palestinian flag on the back, playing with his mouth in a moment of defiance. As the song ended, he simply declared: "Stop the genocide." The crowd responded with cheers, turning the performance into something unforgettable.
THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS – Intimate Chaos and Arena-Sized Heart
The night kicked off with a drum solo performance of “Monolith”, a thunderous introduction that set the stage for what was to come. Moments later, the band launched into one of their biggest anthems, “Kings and Queens,” igniting the crowd and setting the tone for a night of unforgettable moments.
Jared Leto, ever the showman, broke the fourth wall almost immediately — during Rescue Me, he pulled five fans from the audience to dance with him on stage, sparking joyous chaos.
In true border-town fashion, the international crowd got its moment too. When one fan said he was from Slovenia, Jared laughed and shouted, “I can see your house from here!” before asking how many Slovenian and Italian fans were in the crowd. The cheers confirmed it was a passionate mix of both, but of course Italian fans prevailed.
There were sing-alongs galore, with the crowd belting out This Is War as fans climbed on each other’s shoulders. Jared later returned with an acoustic guitar to take requests from the audience, delivering Fantasy and a tender rendition of Lullaby.
The set featured surprises throughout — from giant inflatable balls thrown into the crowd during The Beautiful Lie, to heartfelt thank-yous and jokes about how good longtime fans “looked for their age.”
By 22:15, the band appeared to wrap up — but Jared wasn’t done. He invited another 30+ fans on stage, blurring the line between performer and audience once more. The final moments of the show stretched to 22:40, bringing the 1 hour and 40-minute set to an unforgettable close.
A night of anthemic highs, personal connection, and politically conscious energy — THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS proved that whether you’re from Gorizia or across the border, music knows no boundaries.
