Alternative rock band LIGHT THIS NIGHT have dropped new single "Skin". A track that delves into inner conflict, the struggle with oneself, and the search for balance between what we desire and what we try to escape from. Drawing inspiration from works like Twin Peaks and Alan Wake, the lyrics capture the tension between light and darkness, between the yearning for freedom and the fear of facing one's true self. The song was mixed and mastered by Theorem Studio, while the music video, directed by Luca Moretti, translates the song’s atmosphere into evocative and meaningful imagery, further enhanced by the presence of actor Andy Nloga.
From a musical standpoint, "Skin" is a modern track that blends elements from various contemporary influences. The powerful guitars draw from the new wave of metal, creating an energetic and impactful sound. The use of synthesizers and electronic elements is a defining characteristic of the band, contributing to an intense and immersive atmosphere.
The song’s lyrics pay homage to works like Twin Peaks and Alan Wake, which explore themes of inner struggle, the desire for freedom, and emotional conflict with unique intensity. The track draws inspiration from the way these works delve into the darkness of the human soul, represented by the looming threat that emerges from nowhere - akin to Cooper’s doppelgänger in Twin Peaks or Mr. Scratch in Alan Wake, an entity that, despite being identical to the protagonist in every way, is his dark antithesis.
"Skin" is available now in all digital store in partnership with Warmusic Management.
