Brutal Assault has unveiled over 90 names, making up more than 70% of the total lineup. Among the newly announced acts are Opeth, Kerry King, Karnivool, Fear Factory, Cult of Luna, Paradise Lost, and 32 more bands.
After eight years, Swedish masters of progressive death metal Opeth will return to the fortress. These pioneers will bring their latest work, The Last Will & Testament, a dark and conceptually intricate story set in the 1920s. In this album, Opeth tells a tale full of betrayal and intrigue, framed by the densest and most progressive soundscapes the band has crafted in recent years.
Kerry King, founding member of Slayer and thrash metal icon, will make his debut at Brutal Assault with an exclusive solo set, featuring not only new material but also a retrospective of his career. Another highlight will be the Australian band Karnivool, whose progressive rock is filled with emotional depth and instrumental precision. Iconic Fear Factory will bring their mechanical chaos with a unique performance of the classic album Demanufacture, one of the most significant records in industrial metal.
Swedish Cult of Luna will once again push the boundaries of post-metal with their hypnotic and intense atmosphere, while melancholic masters Paradise Lost will ensure a solid representation of doom metal.
Alongside these names, Nile, pioneers of technical death metal, will transport the audience to ancient Egypt with their crushing precision. Meanwhile, progressive wizards Ne Obliviscaris will blend extreme metal with classical music.
The festival offers much more. Hardcore legends Agnostic Front, black metal trailblazers Dark Funeral, and 3 Inches of Blood, delivering a nostalgic heavy metal experience, will be joined by a new wave of genre innovators like Hanabie. and Graphic Nature, showcasing the future of metal. The experimental spirit will be embodied by the dark tones of Oranssi Pazuzu and the cinematic aesthetics of Hideous Divinity.
We can’t overlook bands like Monolord, whose doom metal brings monumental weight, or Skálmöld, who will transport audiences to the Viking past. Highly anticipated returns include Prong and Mnemic, while emotional powerhouses like Counterparts and the blackened chaos of Wayfarer will also grace the stage.
This year’s edition will feature unique performances, including the avant-garde sounds of Bohren & Der Club of Gore and the provocative act Patriarchy. Nostalgia will be stirred by bands like Hällas, while modern heaviness will be represented by The Browning and Warbringer.
The Brutal Assault lineup is rounded out by a plethora of bands showcasing the unique diversity of this year’s festival. The fortress will welcome Drowning Pool for the first time, brutal death metal fans will enjoy the relentless onslaught of Dying Fetus and the precise darkness of Crypt Sermon. Ryker’s will bring the energy of the hardcore scene, while High Parasite and Heriot represent fresh talent with a modern take on heavy music. The melancholic depth of White Ward and the epic atmosphere of Harakiri for the Sky will appeal to those seeking layered soundscapes.
Furia will return with their unique avant-garde-inspired black metal approach, while Ruïm guarantees an authentic atmosphere of pure black metal. Hällas will enrich the lineup with their retro rock, and closing the chaos, Car Bomb will deliver their chaotic mathcore, captivating everyone who appreciates technical precision and energy.
