LINKIN PARK Mike Shinoda on Creating and Reinventing Linkin Park, Plus His Creative Evolution (VIDEO)

In 1996, a 19-year-old in Agoura Hills, California with an eye for design and an ear for music had an idea. Obsessed with art and classically trained as a pianist, Mike Shinoda heard classic rock samples in the hip-hop he loved, and became transfixed by the potential of combining his love of rap and heavy metal. The band he co-founded, Linkin Park, became one of the most popular and influential groups of the 2000s, cementing Shinoda a leading role in convergence culture. And it all started with one idea. All of this and more we can hear in discussion with Noah Callahan-Bever, creator and host of Idea Generation.
