Hard-rock band Dark Divine are revealing their hypnotic new music video and single “Paper Crown” (feat. Bryan Kuznitz of Fame On Fire) via Thriller Records. "I can’t tell you how long we have been holding onto this song, waiting for the right time to release it. This was one of the most fun collaborative efforts we have ever done and I hope that everyone enjoys the video as much as we enjoyed making it. We know people have been anticipating this song’s release for a while so we wanted to make sure the people got what they were expecting plus some things that they weren’t. Bryan Kuznitz is a very dear friend of Dark Divine and we were so glad he was willing to hop on the song as well as the video." Says Dark Divine's lead vocalist, Anthony Martinez about the track's collaboration. Alongside this release come the announcement of their highly anticipated, debut full-length record, Deadly Fun, produced by Zach Jones (Chelsea Grin, We Came As Romans, Fit For A King) is due out September 8 via Thriller Records.
“Paper Crown" premiering via SiriusXM Octane Test Drive, holds nothing back, intertwining hard-rock melodies that erupt into an insanely catchy chorus. Dark Divine showcases their ability to ignite a furious passion among cinematic screams that are placed strategically against glossy clean vocals provided by Kuznitz and Dark Divine's lead vocalist, Anthony Martinez. This pair's chemistry is unmatched causing "Paper Crown" to be a stand-out single. The track's music video immerses fans in a grimacing yet dignified atmosphere.
""Paper Crown" is a song about confronting people with narcissistic tendencies. It is often that we find ourselves putting our own mental health at risk in an effort to please those who only want to hurt us. The toxicity that bleeds from narcissistic personalities can greatly reduce our standards for behavior that we are willing to tolerate." Says Martinez about the new track.
“"Paper Crown" was a blast to work on with Dark Divine. They came in with the hook and we worked the whole song around that. It’s got a killer vibe and the lyrics hit hard. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out and I wish these guys nothing but the best as they continue to grow in the industry.” Says Kuznitz about working on the new track.
"Paper Crown" can be found on Dark Divine's forthcoming debut LP, Deadly Fun due out September 8 via Thriller Records. The record is a follow-up to the band's EP, Halloweentown (released via InVogue Records) which has surpassed 5M streams.
"Each song has its own message but the whole album is based on different individuals' fear of literal, spiritual, or emotional death. It explores what it's like going through daily life and never knowing what's around the corner, down a hallway, or in the basement. Like walking through a mystery funhouse or a creepy carnival. It's fun but also terrifying at times. Without that fear, everything would be taken for granted." Says Martinez about the forthcoming record.
Deadly Fun plays with themes of the fear of different types of death from emotional, spiritual and literal. Dark Divine explores anxious feelings throughout worry and doubt as they create graveyard storylines laced in the mystery of a freak-show funhouse.
