RUMOURS - Welcome 2021 With New Single "Mania" and Sophomore EP Announcement

Melbourne alternative rockers Rumours are welcoming 2021 with the release of brand new single "MANIA" as well as the announcement of their long-awaited sophomore EP 'If Only You Could Feel Something Too'.

The new EP marks new territory for the band, with a collection of tracks produced, mixed and mastered by Windwaker's Chris Lalic - who has added a new dimension to the band's releases since jumping on board with the 2019 release, "Paralysed". Premiering at triple j Short.Fast.Loud last night, "MANIA" follows on where last years single "Incredulous" left off, promoting individualism and self expression. Vocalist Jackson Bentley explains:

"Mania was the first song we wrote after Paralysed. The lyrics of the song reflect the many years of my life questioning so many important attributes of myself simply because of the place I was living and the people I was surrounding myself with ... I wanted this to be the first single from the EP, to let people know that if you are offended or disgusted by people who are "different" in your eyes and think that your omnipotent beliefs justify this, then you are simply not welcome."

Rumours is Jackson Bentley (vocals), Harry Coote (guitar), Dustin Bayley (bass) and Benjamin Canham (guitar). The four piece spent the last year solidifying a loyal following and working towards a release to be proud of. Previous two singles "Paralysed" and "Incredulous" made waves with plays on triple j and RAGE, rotation on Unearthed, over 400,000 streams on Spotify (and counting), both appeared in The Faction's Hardest 100 countdown and received love from Music Feeds - who drew comparisons to the genre defying Ocean Grove. Music Feeds also commented with:

"Grooves like thunder. The eerie synth soundscapes, grungey, nu-metal inflected verses and soaring anthemic choruses make for one wild ride (that you’ll want to line up for again straight away)."

Rumours has also received a lot of love from triple j Unearthed, with "Paralysed" reviews from Unearthed's Dave Ruby Howe: "Love the soaring moments in this melodic post hardcore track. Rumours leveling up for this one", Unearthed's Claire Mooney: "There's no holding back here. Love that powerful start to this and that chorus goes large. Love this band" and Home & Hosed host Declan Byrne: "it soars and hits hard, a combo that can't be denied". "Incredulous" followed suit with reviews from triple j's Max Quinn: "you make all these things that shouldn't fit together on paper, absolutely fit together inside my ears. You're sick.", another from Byrne: "it's a diving bird that soars then swoops straight down for me, a sitting duck on the footpath." and Mooney: "Solid from the get go and boy does it turn into something pretty enormous. HUGE."

The band formed in Wagga Wagga in 2016 and has since released their debut EP 'Lost Together' and toured extensively throughout Australia winning over their audiences. Rumours has played shows alongside heavyweight Australian acts including Northlane, The Amity Affliction, Ocean Grove, In Hearts Wake, Dream on Dreamer, Polaris and Make Them Suffer as well as playing support to international acts to the likes of The Plot In You. Drawing from the likes of Don Broco, Grimes, Halsey and Muse, Rumours have evolved to showcase a carefully crafted sound that appeals to pop lovers, headbangers and everything in between.

Stay tuned for the next chapter, until then - "MANIA" is available now to stream and purchase everywhere.
