"Serpent" delves deeply into an individual's response to abandonment from a figure they greatly depend on. A greatly personal topic to me. In the song the figure appears throughout the individuals life, slowly sinking hooks of dependence and reliability into the individual only to tear them out time and time again, leaving only feelings of despite and reverence in the individuals mind, breaking him slowly yet completely - Jake
