SUNSLEEPER - Sign To Rude Records and Celebrate With New Single “Soften Up"

Salt Lake City’s emo/rock band, Sunsleeper is thrilled to announce their signing with Rude Records. To celebrate, the band has released a brand new music video for single, “Soften Up.” Produced by Nathan Hussey (All Get Out) at VuDu Studios in Port Jefferson, NY, the track is about internalizing feelings of disdain while presenting oneself as put together on the outside.

The band’s lead vocalist, Jeffery Mudgett elaborates, “The video and song parallel each other. It describes how on the inside that is typically where the discomfort and anxiety lives, and while on the outside this is where we put up a front or a smile, like nothing is wrong.” This theme came at a time when change was evident in the lives of each member of the band. “Soften Up” is the perfect depiction of what they were going through.

The single comes after their well-received debut EP, Stay The Same, which featured tracks like “Break or Bury” and “Best Friends Forget.” WhiteNoiseZine commented on the EP by stating, “They nail the quiet, swinging slow parts pretty well, sounding a bit like Silversun Pickups at times.” Since their debut the band has extensively toured the US with artists like All Get Out, Homesafe, and Household.
