GRASPOP METAL MEETING 2019 - Slipknot Announced As Headlines on Saturday 22 June

Graspop Metal Meeting reveals yet another headliner for GMM19 today. Slipknot play the Festival Park in Dessel on Saturday 22 June. The nine masked members of the band are welcome guests at the festival. With their cast iron repertoire and phenomenal stage presence they always steamroller the field in Dessel. The shows are known to meet, even beat, all expectations. Their upcoming visit, the seventh, is a sorely anticipated encounter for many Graspop metalheads. The fan base is broad and strong. It will be a seething crowd on 22 June, and you can expect front man, Corey Taylor, to hold it in the palm of his hand: “Be prepared for 2019 – which, weirdly, is the 20th anniversary of our first album. Shit’s about to get fucking real again! So take that as you will.”

Yesterday, Graspop Metal Meeting announced that Within Temptation will headline GMM19 on Friday 21 June. The festival takes place in the Stenehei Festival Park, Dessel, from Friday 21 June to Sunday 23 June included. Tickets go on sale on Saturday 27 October at 10 AM and are available from ticketmaster.be and proximusgoformusic.be. More names for GMM19 to follow shortly.

Slipknot emerged in Des Moines, Iowa in the American mid-west in the late 90s. The band soon earned itself a name as the most eccentric, provocative and aggressive musical collective of the modern era. And they were hugely successful – 10 Grammy nominations (winning the award for "Before I Forget" in 2006), 13 platinum and 44 gold records worldwide and 2.5 billion YouTube views. The band's latest studio album, '.5: The Gray Chapter', was released in 2014 and made the Top 5 in the album charts in 19 countries including the US (# 1), the UK (# 2), Japan (# 1), Australia (# 1), Russia (# 1) and Germany (# 2). The band is said to be currently adding the final touches to a new album.

Graspop Metal Meeting 2019 takes place from 21-23 June. For the 24th time, the Stenehei festival venue in Dessel will shake to its foundations! In keeping with a proud tradition the bill is packed with a variety of heavy music genres ranging from hard rock to death metal, from black metal to punk, from metalcore to thrash and many more. Metalheads from across the globe will once again flock to Dessel for a high mass of epic guitar violence, bone-shattering drums and gut-wrenching screams. Time to start warming up those neck muscles!
